You are so smart! Taste ahead. Very good idea. Now I have to get myself up to the North Bay to do this. Hmm . . . how would you solve that? Teleportation ;-?

Hi JOhn,

I catered a party that had a Chinese theme - I was not about to do the dim sum myself! We had many veg only eaters coming so I had to hunt down some quality veg dim sum. I found some great stuff at Tin's in Oakland. I actually had a tasting appointment with the owner - which by the way is a super good cheap-o dodge =:0). They did some things on special order but they had a wide selection of veg only on the menu. I've found though that I'm often told - "sure! lots of veg options" when I call ahead - Now I know to check the place first and get them to fax a menu or check the menu on-line.

yeah, it's true that dim sum is either seafood or meats. I've never tried dim sum vegetarian... but lucky creation makes some creative dishes there that vegans go there too. BTW, I'm not sure if they have dim sum. Sorry. I just know they're pretty good for chinese food you can call them and ask them.

The SF Veggies almost unanimously believe dim sum is all about meat. One person recommended Lucky Creation, but had never eaten there. What is all–vegetarian dim sum like?

I'm celebrating my upcoming (successful) dissertation defense with a trip to San Francisco. While finishing the dissertation, I was too busy for a dim sum trip from Santa Cruz. My friends are mostly vegetarian. The last time they came to dim sum it was a disaster. When I called the restaurant beforehand, they told me they had many vegetarian dishes. But this wasn't true. Any suggestions for a good restaurant which will satisfy both omnivores and herbivores?

Thanks,
