I have a few- I love the sesame balls.
I also love the slimey noodles with the sauce- I love about everything they bring out- including the soy soup that they give the yummy bread "sticks" with. mmmmm I cannot ever get enough dim sum. Taro dumplings are good, and the crab claw things are super.

Re: what is your favorite dim sum item?
Thu, August 5, 2004 - 6:55 PMOh, and I forgot to mention lotus-leaf sticky rice. The place I go has started making it different recently...has a bit more herbal taste than it used to. I really like it! I tried chicken's feet as well as tripe once (my ex-bf's dad loved the stuff) - I'll try just about anything once. I just couldn't get over the feeling of chewing on little knucklebones though... ;) -

Re: what is your favorite dim sum item?
Tue, May 3, 2005 - 3:31 PMThe sticky rice is my fave...I especially like it when the include the chunk of sausage, the hard cooked egg yolk, and the teeny tiny shrimps.
other faves - custard tarts, steamed pork buns, and sesame balls.
A funny duck story...we go out to dim sum pretty often, and I got a plate of duck one time. My 6 year old asked what it was and I told her. "You mean they killed a duck for that?!?!", and I said, "yes, they did",and she said "well that's just MEAN!!!!". What could I say? So I just ate all my duck, smiling the whole time :)
We later had to have the discussion about where chicken comes from...and she loves chicken! -

Re: what is your favorite dim sum item?
Sat, August 6, 2005 - 6:51 PMI like the, rolled tofu skin filled with shrimp, pork and mushrooms.
I think they are, Sin Jiu Gin... I can NEVER say it right, and when I ask for it, they always ask me multiple times... what? what? ..... oh... Sin Jiu Giiiiin.
tonal languages are so tough for me.
I like the long white noodles with the specks dried shrimp... I used to go to a place in San Diego where they would pan fry the stuff, giving it a nice crusty crunch... drizzled with sesame and hoisin... that stuff is good.
I like the chicken claws too, but I think the flavor is not woth the effort.
As a kid in the Philippines, I remember the Filipino version of the chicken claws... over there, they are on a stick, deep fried then dunked into several different sauces, they're called, "Adidas"... never tried them. -

Re: what is your favorite dim sum item?
Wed, August 10, 2005 - 4:59 AMrice noodle rolls - cheong fan.. with any filling, especially the doughnut (yu tiao)
the chook feet..yummy, but a lot of work.
Love the soup dumplings
steamed baby calamari
steamed shrimp stuffed tofu and stuffed eggplant with black bean sauce... oo this would have been easier to list what I really can't stand at dim sum:
I once had a deep fried pig intestine which tasted just like you thought it would (yuk). The turnip cake doesn't do much for me, but I don't hate it like I hate pig intestine..ewww.. -

Re: what is your favorite dim sum item?
Tue, February 7, 2006 - 1:34 AMhar gow is my metric to the quality of the place, tofu skin roll is a nice vegetarian option, pan fried shrimp and chives, the rice in the tea leaves... i get my feet on often. the sesame balls are always my closer, make sure you have a fresh pot of tea though.
